Meet Our Founders: Dr. K. A. Prasad & Indira Prasad

“The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upwards in the night.” — Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

This line sums up the journey of Dr. K. A. Prasad, the driving force behind St. Antony’s Public School (SAPS). His life was defined by hard work, quiet determination, and an unshakable belief in the power of education. Alongside him was his partner in every sense, Indira Prasad—whose strength, courage, and support made the dream possible.

A Journey Rooted in Education

Dr. Prasad began his teaching career in 1966 as a lecturer and later became Head of the Department of Zoology at a First Grade College in Bangalore. In 1968, he joined Kendriya Vidyalaya as a Post Graduate Teacher in Biology at Hubli, eventually serving as Vice Principal at several KVs across India. His academic excellence earned him a Ph.D. fellowship in the UK, and he expanded his international experience as Vice Principal at Indian School Ras Al Khaimah (UAE) and Principal at Indian Secondary School in Kuwait. He returned to India during the Gulf War, bringing with him global insight—but also faced tremendous personal and financial loss.

Building a Dream, Together

It was during this time that Indira Prasad stepped in with courage and conviction. She even pledged her gold so that the idea of SAPS could come alive. Together, they proved that big dreams are built on resilience, sacrifice, and shared vision.

The Struggles Were Real

Starting a school wasn’t simple. Dr. Prasad made more than 150 trips to Bangalore for approvals. He even acted as the school’s first watchman, guarding bricks and steel at night—once fighting off a wolf to protect the site! These moments of struggle shaped the strong foundation of SAPS.

From Three Students to Thousands

In 1989, the school began in a small rented building with just three students and two teachers. By 1995, enrollment had jumped to 500, and the foundation stone for the current campus was laid.

Fast forward to today—SAPS is home to over 3,100 students and continues to grow every year.

More Than Just a School

What started as a small seed has grown into a thriving institution. Like a tree rooted in strong values, SAPS continues to reach higher—always evolving, always learning.

Our Ethos

For the past 36+ years, SAPS has stood for excellence with a simple motto: learn, unlearn, relearn. We don’t just look back at our legacy—we keep asking, what’s next?

That’s the spirit of SAPS.

That’s the legacy of Dr. K. A. Prasad and Mrs Indira Prasad.

Reflections from the Vice Chairman – The Legacy Continues

Mr. Kiran Anthony Kosagi Bachelor of IT, Edith Cowan University, Australia, Master of Cyber Security – University of Adelaide, Australia.

“Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives — choice, not chance, determines your destiny.” — Aristotle

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for taking the time to explore what St. Antony’s Public School (SAPS) has to offer.

Having grown up and completed my schooling in Hubballi, I remember those years as being academically rigid and uninspiring. Later, while pursuing my higher education in Australia, I witnessed a vastly different approach to learning—one that was dynamic, engaging, and deeply student-centric. Watching my own son thrive in that environment, I saw firsthand the impact of practical teaching, integrated technology, and a culture that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

When I was appointed Vice Chairman of SAPS in 2018, I was inspired to bring that same global standard of education to our students here in Hubballi—without making it financially inaccessible. I believe every child is unique and holds infinite potential. Our mission is to unlock that potential by creating opportunities that empower students to dream big and think boldly.

At SAPS, education is not just about academics—it’s an experience. We believe the journey matters just as much as the destination. Success, to us, is not defined solely by grades, but by the joy of learning, the courage to explore, and the character built along the way.

We foster a culture of respect, challenge, and innovation. Our teachers are passionate educators who use creative methodologies to make learning meaningful and memorable. We encourage students to take risks, ask questions, and tackle complex problems—because that’s how real growth happens.

We invite you to be part of “A Different School of Thought.” We hope SAPS becomes the place where your child not only learns, but thrives.

Warm regards,

Kiran Anthony Kosagi
