Learning Journey
Learning is a lifelong journey, not a final destination.
Foundation Stage (Pre-Nursery to 2nd Std)
Our foundational stage provides meaningful experience for children. Our philosophy of learning through play and books, values children as partners in learning; the children actively shape their own learning with the help of teachers.
Through play, the children develop skills in literacy, numeracy, health and wellbeing. Children have the opportunity to share time together and learn about themselves and other people. Learning in our nursery is fun and challenging. The children are supported and encouraged by experienced staff who understand how children develop. The children make great use of the nursery space including our outdoor area. Programme inculcates in children the qualities of curiosity, exploration, and discovery in a fun-filled, safe and happy learning environment. A team approach helps nurture a love for learning; develop social skills, and instil moral values. The emphasis is on developing in students, self-confidence and the ability to effectively communicate. Learning includes audio-visual aids, demonstrations, simulations, rhymes, games, class libraries and activity rooms.
Preparatory Stage (Class 3 to 5)
Here we will lay solid ground work across subjects including reading, writing, speaking, physical education and art. This stage encourages inquiry and exploration, to develop competence of children in various skills – Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Problem-solving and Observation.
We focus on good citizenship, leadership, courtesy, ethics, personal and public hygiene, cleanliness, teamwork and cooperation. Learning will be fun, engaging and interactive.
The early years of preparatory stage continue to provide opportunities for children to learn through play. Prior learning is built on and is marked by a rich balance of teaching approaches.
Learning is planned to ensure breadth, challenge, and the application of skills in new and unfamiliar situations. Learning is cooperative and collaborative, where learners have the opportunity to think and talk together, analyse and solve problems.
Learning and Assessment go hand-in-hand, with learning shared and discussed with pupils.
Middle Stage (Class 6 to 8)
Children continue to build on what they know and on their skills for learning, life and work. Literacy, numeracy continue to be the main focus of learning as the foundation stones of all other learning. As their skills develop, the children are encouraged to become increasingly independent in their learning and in what they make, say, write and do within. They contribute to planning learning and set their own targets and goals with support from peers and Adults. Peer to Peer learning forms an integral part of learning.
Themed interdisciplinary projects, built on knowledge from across the curriculum, helps to develop and consolidate skills. These projects encourage cooperative and collaborative approaches and allow for depth in learning.
The integrated project showcases the knowledge and skills acquired by students in various subjects, and serves as a concrete step towards developing inter-disciplinary approaches in later years.
Secondary (Class 9 to 10) & Higher Secondary (11th & 12th Std)
The Secondary School Programme meets intellectual and developmental needs of children. The curriculum focuses on intra and interdisciplinary learning, which helps students prepare for board and competitive exams, simultaneously. Within the CBSE curriculum framework, our students learn, review their progress through continuous and periodic assessments.
As students move up to higher classes, we emphasise on collaborative and cooperative learning, which also help them develop social skills. Self and peer assessments enable them to participate in discussions, helps them understand subjects in greater depth and identify their learning needs. This helps them build a lifelong commitment to learning, develop independence, nurture curiosity and kindle innovative ideas.
At SAPS, we believe that education is not just about imparting knowledge but about inspiring a lifelong love for learning. Our approach is centered on experiential learning, individualised attention, and holistic development, ensuring that every student is equipped to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
